About
News in Levels is an independent learning project that presents news stories at three reading levels so English learners can read the same story at the difficulty that suits them, with a short list of difficult words and an optional read-aloud.
How it works
Stories are gathered from Wikinews, then rewritten by a language model into Level 1 (simplest), Level 2 (intermediate) and Level 3 (near-original), each with a “difficult words” glossary. A human reviews and publishes each story. You can listen to any level read aloud in your browser.
Content & licensing
Article text comes from Wikinews under CC BY 2.5. We modify it into reading levels; every published article links back to its Wikinews source and notes that the text has been changed. Photos are shown only when their license is Public Domain, CC0, or CC BY / CC BY-SA, and CC-licensed photos carry a per-image credit with a link to the source.
